Vera Rena 18791227 Tulle Evening Dress Sewing Pattern

Item No.: 18791227 TULLE EVENING DRESS

Bust Size Range: 34–44 inches

Pattern Source: Reproduction of original antique pattern from 1879 Harper's Bazaar
This late Victorian tulle evening dress originates from 1879 fashion plates. Originally made in white tulle, it carries an ethereal, romantic aesthetic representative of formal evening wear of the 1870s. Featuring a fitted corsage bodice paired with flowing layered skirts, the design balances structured shaping and airy lightness, ideal for historical costume recreation and summer evening events.
The lined tulle bodice incorporates gathered front panels and pleated side forms, decorated with lace and satin ribbon bows. Short sleeves are softly gathered at the cap and finished with lace edging. The skirt consists of gathered front breadth and pleated back breadth, adorned with voluminous tulle flounces and puffs for graceful movement. This pattern fully documents authentic Victorian tailoring techniques, including boned shaping, piping finishes, ribbon seam binding, weighted cord hem construction, hook-and-eye waist belt assembly, hanging tape installation and precise pleat alignment.
The pattern set includes complete pieces: overskirt front breadth, overskirt back breadth, guimpe, bodice front, side forms, back panels and sleeves. Comprehensive historical sewing instructions, toile fitting guidance and A0 full-scale printing guidelines are supplied, with a 3-inch test square to avoid sizing errors caused by improper scaling.
