Vera Rena 18800124 Pink Faille and Brocade Ball Toilette Sewing Pattern
Item No.: 18800124 PINK FAILLE AND BROCADE BALL TOILETTE
Bust Size Range: 34–44 inches
Pattern Source: Reproduction of antique fashion plate pattern from 1880 Harper's Bazaar
This luxurious ball gown represents the elite evening fashion of the early 1880s. Designed with pink faille matched with red brocade, it is adorned with white lace and pink floral sprays. The design plays on contrasting fabrics and graceful asymmetric draping. It features a multi-panel fitted corsage layered over a guimpe, paired with tiered skirts and an obliquely draped écharpe. The rigid tailored bodice balances fluid drapery, making it ideal for formal balls, opera events and Victorian historical costume recreation.
The corsage has a fitted lining base with guimpe, side panels and pleated back sections. It is covered with pleated pink faille, while front panels are crafted from red brocade. The left front is fixed, and the right front closes with buttons; all edges are bound with pink satin. Lined puff sleeves of pink faille are softly gathered at the sleeve cap. The under-skirt is pink faille finished with box-pleated flounce. The asymmetric overskirt is trimmed with white lace. A pink faille écharpe sweeps diagonally across the overskirt and ties at the right side. Pink fabric flowers serve as ornaments on the bodice and may be worn in the hair.
This pattern set includes all pattern pieces: guimpe half panel, bodice front, first side form, second side form, back half panel and sleeve foundation. Comprehensive historical sewing instructions cover lining pre-fitting and adjustment transfer, sequential basting techniques, seam pressing, fabric alignment methods, full boning installation & shaping workflow, bias binding and finishing techniques. Essential tailoring advice is included to avoid fabric creasing and tight fit after boning assembly.
A0 full-scale printing guidelines are provided. Print settings must be set to 100% Actual Size without scaling. A 3-inch test calibration square is included to avoid dimension errors caused by incorrect printing.
