Vera Rena 18800201 Ivory Silk Gauze Evening Dress Sewing Pattern
Item No.: 18800201 IVORY SILK GAUZE EVENING DRESS (Left)
Bust Size Range: 34–44 inches
Pattern Source: Reproduction of the original antique pattern from 1880 Harper's Bazaar
This elegant evening gown embodies the luxurious formal aesthetic of the early 1880s. Originally crafted in ivory silk gauze, it features a fitted Basque bodice with distinctive front plastron styling. Ornate spiral lace trims frame the simulated plastron, while matching lace adorns the neckline and sleeves. A floral spray decorates the right front, delivering layered ornamental detail and visual balance. It is a perfect choice for formal evening events and historical costume presentations.
The Basque bodice closes at the back. Pleated silk gauze creates the decorative front plastron, accented with spiral lace on both sides. The sleeves are covered with billowy silk gauze puffs and edged with coordinating lace. The full skirt and panier overskirt are decorated with pleated silk gauze ruffles and lace following the original fashion plate.
This pattern pack includes all essential pieces: half front, side form, back bodice panels and sleeves. Complete historical sewing instructions cover lining layout, notching alignment, sequential basting techniques, seam pressing, linen facing installation, hook-and-eye placement, boning layout and shaping, piping finishing and waist belt construction. Critical vintage tailoring tips are provided to avoid fabric wrinkling and poor fit after boning insertion.
A0 full-scale printing guidelines are included. Please print at 100% Actual Size. A 3-inch calibration test square is supplied to eliminate scaling errors.
