This versatile Victorian evening gown combines terra cotta red satin and airy white silk gauze, decorated with delicate gauze ruching and a large rear bow. Originating from an 1881 fashion plate, it represents refined early 1880s ball and dinner dress fashion. Featuring a defined cinched waist and layered overskirt silhouette, it balances structured tailoring with lightweight translucent fabric. Perfect for historical costume reconstruction, formal galas and vintage-themed events.

Two interchangeable bodice styles are included. Standard Bodice: Shaped with front darts, button placket front closure, fitted back; neckline and armholes edged with gauze ruching. Sleeves consist of pleated silk gauze layered over white taffeta lining to create soft, lightweight volume. Peasant Waist Bodice: Finished with corded top and bottom edges; eyelet openings on the back allow adjustable lacing with red silk cord, delivering distinctive romantic styling.

The layered overskirt has tabbed hem edges with inserted fan-shaped gauze pleats. The back panel is evenly shirred to create gentle, controlled fullness. The foundation skirt is constructed from white silk gauze trimmed with matching pleating. A hook-and-eye waistband secures the overskirt, completed with a prominent large gauze bow at the back.
